BACP Accredited and UKRCP Registered Counsellors and Psychotherapists serving
Cumbria, North Lancashire and The Yorkshire Dales.
Our purpose is:
to offer in Cumbria and North Lancashire a network of professional counsellors,
psychotherapists who
are registered with and accredited by BACP - The British Association
for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Accreditation demonstrates a level
of experience and professionalism over and above ‘registration’,
and is achieved by only a minority of counsellors.
This means that we:
• have achieved a substantial level of training and experience,
•
work to the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions,
• are required by the BACP to have regular supervision, professional indemnity
insurance and demonstrate continuing
professional development.
We offer:
help during times of difficulty, crisis or change, and provide
•
a safe confidential environment in which to explore patterns of behaviour
and relationships.
•
a way of gaining a better understanding and acceptance of yourself.
•
the opportunity to develop new strategies for coping and the potential
to live more fully and meaningfully.
•
a way of making the effect of past and present difficult situations less
powerful and painful even though the
circumstances cannot be changed.
How long?
Each person’s issues will be unique, and their needs and the length
of time required will also vary. The task is to help each
person to find their own way to work through to their goal.
In the first session you will discuss and agree with the counsellor how
many sessions you might need, or agree an open-ended
contract.
Short term work can be from one to thirty sessions. Longer term psychotherapeutic
counselling might be for a year or
longer.
There is currently no legislation
governing the use of the term “Counsellor”.
Use this website to ensure that you receive a professional service
from an accredited and registered practitioner.
